The Brave New Workshop Theatre (BNW) is pleased to announce the title of its 2013 holiday-themed comedy revue: "I Saw Daddy Marry Santa Claus." Previews for this, the BNW's 282nd production, will be November 7-14, and opening night will be Friday, November 15. "I Saw Daddy Marry Santa Claus" runs through January 25, 2014. All performances are at the Brave New Workshop Theatre main stage at 824 Hennepin Avenue, Downtown Minneapolis.
This holiday season, the BNW will set its satirical sights on some of the year's hottest topics, including Minnesota's entry into the gay marriage conversation. But they don't stop there. "I Saw Daddy Marry Santa Claus" will also but also hilariously skewer any and all of our holiday traditions, family relationships, and social issues. "I Saw Daddy Marry Santa Claus" comes hot on the heels of BNW's 2012's smash holiday hit, "Fifty Shades of White: A Minnesota xxmas" and will feature new sketches and songs, as well as old favorites, including the return of the BNW's most renowned and requested holiday sketch "The 12 Days of Christmas."
"There are Christmas shows that present an idealized version of the holiday we all know and love, and then there are Christmas shows that show us what the holiday season is really like," says show director Caleb McEwen. "The Brave New Workshop is continuing its 55 year tradition of having the funniest Christmas show in town with songs, sketches and general merry-making that will make your spirits brighter than some Minnesotans consider appropriate."
"I Saw Daddy Marry Santa Claus" will feature cast members Lauren Anderson, Matt Erkel, Andy Hilbrands, Tom Reed and Taj Ruler. Caleb McEwen will direct, with assistance from Katy McEwen.
