The Guthrie Theater's Level 4 Lobby becomes a dance club for one night on Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 9:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. for the Guthrie Theater Costume Ball Dance Party. The public (ages 18+) is invited to dress creatively - from Lady Bracknell to Lady Gaga, King Lear to the King of Pop - and dance the night away at this red carpet event.
Tickets for the Dance Party are $10 ($15 at the door) and are now on sale through the Guthrie Theater Box Office 612.377.2224 or by visiting www.guthrietheater.org/costumeball.
In addition to the dance party, dinners will take place in three different locations throughout the building from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Dinner tickets start at $250 and include the dance party. For more information on the dinner, call 612.225.6164.
The Dance Party kicks off at 9:00 p.m. with Best Kept Secret playing a mix of classic funk and soul, Motown, disco and pop. Their renditions of some of your favorite tunes will have you on your feet well into the evening.
At 10:30 p.m. DJ Mark Wheat from 89.3 The Current brings his indie rock sound to the party with an amazing collection of dance music that will get everyone grooving.
City Pages' 2010 BestR&B Artist MAYDA and her bandtake the stage at 11:30 to close out the evening with their fresh R&B-infused pop.
