Jam presents an evening with Monsters of Folk, featuring Conor Oberst, Jim James, M. Ward and Mike Mogis on Thursday night, October 29th at the Orpheum Theatre. This very special evening will give fans a full 2 1/2 hours of collaborative musical performances showcasing brand new songs from the forthcoming debut album of new music from Monsters of Folk as well as songs fans have come to enjoy from their respective Bright Eyes, My Morning Jacket and M. Ward catalogues. The four members will be switching instruments and trading roles throughout each show, maintaining the freewheeling and highly collaborative spirit of their work together thus far.

Monsters of Folk was born on the road five years ago when My Morning Jacket's Jim James, Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis, and singer/songwriter M. Ward toured together and regularly sat in on each other's sets. On September 22nd, the collective released their debut album on the Shangri-La Music label. The early reviews for this album have been overwhelmingly favorable, landing the gold-standard stamp of 4-Stars from MOJO, Q Magazine (who calls the band our "21st Century Supergroup") Rolling Stone ("...Monsters of Folk yoke together a quartet of folk-minded rockers at the top of their game...[and] create something that's often greater than the sum of its parts.") and Uncut, who says the "indie supergroup has the import of a musical summit meeting." SPIN Magazine elevates the band's supergroup status even further, noting that "Everyone brings A-list material." Rolling Stone calls it, "a shaggy All Things Must Pass-style rock waltz" and Time Out New York calls the new tunes "impassioned, warm-and-fuzzy songsmithery.."
