American Public Media will broadcast the performance being hailed as the "Classical Event of the Season" as conductor Gustavo Dudamel takes the stage to lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic for the first time as its music director. American Public Media, public radio's most active champion of classical music, will spotlight the performance several ways:

-Thursday, October 8, 10 P.M. ET: In partnership with National Public Radio, a live webcast of the performance will be available at performancetoday.org, hosted by Performance Today's Fred Child and KUSC's Brian Lauritzen.

-Thursday, October 8, 10 P.M. ET In partnership with Southern California's Classical KUSC, local Los Angeles fans can listen on-air at 91.5 FM and online at kusc.org to a live local broadcast of the performance; also hosted by Performance Today's Fred Child and KUSC's Brian Lauritzen.

-Friday, October 9: Excerpts of the concert will be broadcast nationally on Performance Today with host Fred Child, airing on public radio stations across the country and also available online at performancetoday.org

-Monday, October 12: SymphonyCast, hosted by Brian Newhouse, will rebroadcast the performance once more in its entirety; accessible on public radio stations across the country and online at symphonycast.org

The anticipation surrounding the performance centers on prodigy conductor, Gustavo Dudamel, who at 28 years of age is taking the Los Angeles baton as legendary conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen, who has led the Philharmonic for 17 seasons, steps down. Dudamel's inaugural concert unveils the world premiere of John Adams' City Noir, a work inspired by Los Angeles itself, and Mahler's joyous First Symphony.
