Avenue Q, the Tony Award-winning Best Musical about real life in New York City as told by a cast of people and puppets, will end its return to Minneapolis at the Hennepin Theatre Trust's Orpheum Theatre, April 18, 2010.
Featuring a hilariously irreverent Tony Award-winning book and score, the New York Times hailed Avenue Q as "a breakthrough musical of a very different stripe. Savvy, sassy and delicious!" Avenue Q is presented by Hennepin Theatre Trust as a special addition to its 2009/10 Broadway Across America-Minneapolis Season.
Avenue Q tells the story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college grad who moves to New York City with big dreams and a tiny bank account. The only apartment he can afford is way out on Avenue Q, where everyone's looking for the same things he is: a decent job, a stable relationship, and a "purpose." Eventually, Princeton learns to embrace the ups and downs of city life and realizes that "the real world" isn't so bad.
This hilarious show tackles life's complex issues and is full of heart and hummable tunes such as "What Do You Do With a B.A. in English?" and "It Sucks to Be Me."
Avenue Q features music, lyrics and original concept by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx and features puppet design by Rick Lyon.
