A Guthrie Experience for Actors in Training will present Going Live! in the Dowling Studio, July 27 - 31, 2011. This theater piece, devised by director Marcela Lorca and the 2011 Guthrie Experience participants, offers a satirical look at what's current in our lives: an exploration of how media and technology infiltrate our humanity, turning truth on its heels and causing absurd chaos in our world.

Now in its 15th year, A Guthrie Experience for Actors in Training helps actors build a bridge between training and the profession, challenging their talents through various training workshops, discussions and individual working sessions, while introducing them to the Guthrie and the Twin Cities community. The hope is that after the actors return to their final year of training at their respective institutions, they will enter their professional careers, retaining a relationship with the Guthrie and seeking to spend a portion of their career in the Twin Cities.

The 2011 Guthrie Experience participants include Darien Battle (Brown University/Trinity Rep), Mark Christine (University of California - San Diego), Leah Dutchin (University of California - Irvine), Christina Lorenn Elmore (American Conservatory Theater), Ricco Fajardo (Southern Methodist University), Alex Hanna (The Juilliard School), Miriam Hyman (Yale School of Drama), Caroline Kaplan (Brown University/Trinity Rep), Adam Mondschein (University of California - Los Angeles), Jeremiah O'Brian (University of California - Los Angeles), Jamie Rezanour (Southern Methodist University) and Maura Tang (University of Washington).

To date, more than 170 actors have participated in A Guthrie Experience for Actors in Training.

The creative team also includes Randy Reyes (Assistant Director), Katharine Horowitz (Sound Designer), Karin Olson (Lighting Designer), Ananda Wold (Costume Designer), Mary Herzog (Property Master), Alexandra Gowdy-Jaehnig (Stage Manager) and Vanessa Davis (Assistant Stage Manager).

Going Live! performs July 27 - 31, 2011, in the Dowling Studio. Single tickets are $10 and are now on sale through the Guthrie Box Office at 612.377.2224, toll-free 877.44.STAGE, 612.225.6244 (Group Sales) and online at www.guthrietheater.org.

The GUTHRIE THEATER (Joe Dowling, Director) was founded by Sir Tyrone Guthrie in 1963 and is an American center for theater performance, production, education and professional training. The Tony Award-winning Guthrie Theater is dedicated to producing the great works of dramatic literature, developing the work of contemporary playwrights and cultivating the next generation of theater artists. With annual attendance of nearly 500,000 people, the Guthrie Theater presents a mix of classic plays and contemporary work on its three stages. Under the artistic leadership of Joe Dowling since 1995, the Guthrie continues to set a national standard for excellence in theatrical production and performance. In 2006, the Guthrie opened its new home on the banks of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, the Guthrie Theater houses three state-of-the-art stages, production facilities, classrooms and dramatic public lobbies. www.guthrietheater.org
