2017 Flint Hills International Children's Festival Family Weekend Tickets Now On Sale

The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts announced today that tickets for all 2017 Flint Hills International Children's Festival Family Weekend indoor performances are now on sale. The 2017 Festival Family Weekend will take place June 3-4, 2017. Advance tickets are $8 each and can be purchased online at www.ordway.org, by phone at 651-224-4222 or in person at the Ordway ticket office.

The 2017 Festival Family Weekend will feature four indoor artists:

Gugu Drum Group

Drummers, storytellers, and athletes from Shanghai, China, engage audiences with their high-energy theatrical drum drama, featuring drum vignettes accompanied by projections based on timeless Chinese proverbs, fables, and fairy tales.

Native Pride Dancers presents Ketti Nimiko!

Members of Native Pride Dancers and special guests take the stage to present a wide variety of traditional Native dances, inspiring the audience to bridge cultural gaps through Indigenous traditions.

The Mystery of the Pig's Eye by Flying Foot Forum

Audience members embark on an interactive percussive dance, music and theater adventure as they follow three sleuths through the corridors, hallways, staircases and rooms of the lower level of the Landmark Center to collect clues and help solve a mystery.

The Way Back Home by Teater Refleksion

When a boy discovers a single-propeller airplane in his closet, he does what any young adventurer would do: he flies into outer space. The Way Back Homeuses puppets to tell a simple yet profound tale about friendship and conquering the fear of the unknown.

New for the 2017 Festival, the Ordway is instituting a "Pay What You Can" program for all indoor performances during the Family Weekend. "Pay What You Can" tickets for indoor shows will be available the day of the performance on a first come, first served basis and are subject to availability. Those who purchase $8 tickets in advance are guaranteed admission.

"The Festival has grown bigger and better every year, with an estimated 70,000 children and adults anticipated to attend Festival events in and around the Ordway. Every single child should have access to the Flint Hills International Children's Festival-it is one of the best in the world and has become a community asset," said Jamie Grant, Ordway president and CEO. "We're very excited to implement the new "Pay What You Can" program for the 2017 Festival, as we feel this will remove one more barrier that some of our patrons may face."

The Flint Hills International Children's Festival is one of the largest children's festivals of its kind in the country.
