Philip Glass has been acknowledged for changing the face of western music, and Skylight is excited to be producing it’s first-ever Philip Glass work. Hydrogen Jukebox is the eclectic and fascinating result of collaboration between Avant-Garde composer Philip Glass and beat poet Allen Ginsberg. Hydrogen is a reflection of America from the 1950s to 1980s, covering social issues such as the sexual revolution, drugs and eastern philosophy. Perhaps Ginsberg described it best in Howl, with his image of “angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night…”
