Hartland's Lake Country Playhouse announces Tom Griffin's Amateurs. The production is directed by Jessica L. Sosnoski.
Performances begin Friday, May 5, 2017 and run through May 21, 2017. Fridays at 7:30pm, Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. Tickets range $18-25 and are available online at www.lakecountryplayhousewi.org.
Amateurs features LCP Board Members Mike Crowley as "Charlie" and Rebecca Richards as "Irene." Also featured are LCP stage veterans Rebecca Janny as "Jennifer," Megan Wolfgram as "Mona" and Paul Weir as "Paul." Mary Chuy, Jeremy Ramirez, Terry Haller and Jeffrey Seelig finish out the cast.
Director Jessica L. Sosnoski says, "The actors playing the characters in Amateurs have each brought a unique spin to the story with their liveliness and positivity. There are some seasoned and familiar faces gracing the Lake Country Playhouse stage as well as some new arrivals...including one making his theater debut. Comedy needs a close-knit cast to pull it off, and the chemistry among this group is nothing short of perfect. If even we can't stop laughing during rehearsals, the audience doesn't stand a chance!"
Following the opening night of the Timberly Troupers' musical about undertakers, Dorothy and her slightly daft husband, Charlie, host a gathering of actors and friends. The chic opening night party is in another part of town, but into Dorothy's living room comes a guest list that includes a cadre of comical characters. When the major theatre critic has a heart attack and drops his not-yet-published review before being taken to the hospital, the actors read it and confront the harsh reality of a pan. This raucous comedy explores the rambunctious world of "show people," and the highs and lows of the dramatic business we call show!

Director Jessica L. Sosnoski moved to the greater Milwaukee area from Virginia in fall of 2015. In 2009, Jessica and her husband founded The Company of Strangers Theater, which they have brought and continued in Wisconsin. Through that platform, Jessica has been blessed to meet many new people in Milwaukee's theater world, including this great group at Lake Country Playhouse. When not acting or directing, she enjoys biking, knitting, a good restaurant and drink, board games, and writing. You can also see her singing and playing piano at any number of coffee shops, wine bars, and farmer's markets.
In its 58th Season, Lake Country Playhouse is committed to providing exceptional theatre to the Lake Country area, as well as a wide range of educational opportunities to hundreds of students each year. With focused artistic vision and fiscal stewardship, we nurture young artists, develop new works, and redefine the classics in our intimate signature style.
Located in the heart of downtown Hartland, Lake Country Playhouse is a cleverly converted Masonic Lodge that houses an 80-seat black box theatre, scenic, paint, and costume shops, and The Playhouse Performing Arts Academy. Together, this facility serves as a vibrant artistic hub in Lake Country which produces compelling dramas, powerful classics, full scale musicals, an annual production of A Christmas Carol, and exceptional youth programming in an intimate, signature style. Under the leadership of the Board of Directors, Lake Country Playhouse aims to entertain, educate, and engage audiences as the recognized home for theatre in Hartland.
