The Peck School of the Art, as part of the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee, announces its June Happenings including Summerdances, the Fine Arts Quartet's Summer Evenings of Music Festival and summer workshops.
From June 3rd to the 5th, Summerdances: Uncovered will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre. Five choreographic premieres and an American masterpiece herald the summer dance season in the UW-Milwaukee Department of Dance's production of Summerdances: Uncovered. The performance will showcase Tony-award winning choreographer of The Lion King, Garth Fagan's, seminal work "From Before," as well as premieres by Simone Ferro, ElizaBeth Johnson, Danielle Kuepper, Janet Lilly and Krislyn World. There will be a pre-show talk with selected choreographers in the Mainstage Theatre at 6:45 pm prior to each performance. Tickets are $15-$9 with a pay-what-you-can preview performance on June 2nd. Fine Arts Quartet presents four Summer Evenings of Music on June 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th at 7:30 p.m. in the Bader Concert Hall. During these performances they will celebrate works of Schumann and Dohnányi. Tickets range from $12 to $20.
Several workshops begin in June, starting with Recording Techniques & Technologies from June 1st to the 9th. There are six sessions and the fee is $200. There are two Jewelry & Metals workshops. One focusing on sawing and piercing to create a silhouette pendant is being held June 26th and 27th from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. The second workshop focuses on cold connections for a riveted letter opene that will be held June 28th to the 30th from 6 p.m to 9 p.m. Each of those workshops are $150. Starting on June 28th and going until August 7th, a workshop on Directing & Physical Acting Tools will be held every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Its fee is $200.
