The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts will host The United States Air Force Band of Mid-America Starlifter on Sunday, July 1 at 2:00 p.m at the Marcus Center's Peck Pavilion. The event is free and tickets are not required.

The United States Air Force Band of Mid-America's popular music group, Starlifter, provides entertainment for a variety of military and social functions. This talented ensemble plays many styles, including rock and roll, pop, country, rhythm and blues, and patriotic crowd pleasers. In each genre, their repertoire extends from oldies to songs at the top of today's charts.

Although Starlifter primarily entertains Air Mobility Command's senior officers and their guests, the group also fulfills unique mission requirements. To support Air Force Public Affairs, Starlifter treks across the Midwest on civic outreach concert tours. These shows are always free and open to the general public. Additionally, the group supports the Air Force's recruiting mission by performing at public high schools. Each year, they provide thousands of America's young hopefuls a glimpse into the pride and professionalism that thrives in the United States Air Force.

Demonstrating the flexibility and readiness inherent to the entire Air Force, Starlifter has deployed as part of our Air Expeditionary Forces and brought a taste of home to over 6,200 US and Coalition troops in Iraq, Kuwait, Quatar, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Djiboutii. In 2009, the group deployed on a Humanitarian and Civic assistance mission with the U.S. Naval Hospital Ship "Comfort". They performed for more that 34,000 people in over 90 performances in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Antigua, Colombia, Panam, El Salvador and Nicaragua. Their outstanding performances earned dozens of standing ovations and bountiful praise from their deployed Brothers and Sisters in arms.

Whether entertaining General Officers, recruiting America's youth, or lifting the spirits of our troops at home and abroad, Starlifter represents the pride, professionalism and excellence found every day throughout the United States Air Force.
