Skylight Opera Theatre presents Gershwin and Friends 12/31

The Skylight Opera Theatre of Milwaukee, Wisconsin will open a new musical revue entitled Gershwin and Friends on December 31, 2010.

Performances will run through January 9, 2011 and will be held in the 99-seat Studio Theatre, at the Broadway Theatre Center located at 158 N. Broadway, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

This newly developed musical revue takes place on New Year's Eve, first at the New York City home of George Gershwin in the midst of the Jazz Age. I Got Rhythm, Summertime and Rhapsody in Blue can be heard wafting through the air. We join a young couple from Mr.
Gershwin's party staff, Cynthia and Parrish, as they celebrate Gershwin's music behind the scenes. Parrish, being free-wheeling and spontaneous, tries to loosen up the more grounded and down to earth Cynthia, with minimal success. After their work is done at the Gershwin
estate they head home to Harlem to ring in the New Year in their own high-style with the music of Gershwin's "friends" Fats Waller, Duke Ellington and Harold Arlen.

This dynamic and innovative new revue of classic tunes from the 20's, 30's and 40's will be performed in the
intimate Studio Theatre by Cynthia Cobb, Parrish Collier and Paul Helm.
