Skylight Music Theatre has announced its 2014-2015 season. Following the 2013-2014 season of Revolution, Skylight turns its focus to Fairy Tales and Fantasy, creating a season-long discussion around these stories and diving deeper into why they are present in every culture in the world. The productions and additional programs will investigate why we as humans are drawn to Fairy Tales and Fantasy and what it is about our human nature that compels us to create these stories.
Launching the season will be a new production of Rossini's Cinderella (La Cenerentola). Jill Anna Ponasik, Producing Artistic Director for Milwaukee Opera Theatre will lead a team that includes Viswa Subbaraman as Music Director and César Galindo as Costume Designer. César Galindo is a well-established New York City fashion designer whose fashions have graced the cover of Elle Magazine. César, who currently runs his own private label CESAR GALINDO, has designed for Dolce & Gabbana and Calvin Klein.
Former Artist Director Bill Theisen will return to Skylight to direct Once On This Island. Theisen was Skylight's Artistic Director for nine seasons, through June of 2013. This will be the first time since his departure that Theisen has been back at Skylight. "We are incredibly honored that Bill will be leading a team to create a new production of Once On This Island. This show is an enchanting musical fable about forbidden love between two races. Bill will undoubtedly bring his unique touch to this gem of musical theatre." - Viswa Subbaraman, Artistic Director.
