Milwaukee Repertory Theater concludes the 2017/18 Season with the great American classic, Our Town, a powerful and moving drama, in the Quadracci Powerhouse, running April 10 through May 13. Directed by Associate Artistic Director Brent Hazelton, this large ensemble brings together some of Wisconsin's greatest theatre talent on one stage to create an Our Town for our town.
Our Town cast features Cher Desiree Alvarez (APT Acting Apprentice) as Emily Webb, James Craven (The Whipping Man) as Howie Newsome, Rep Associate Artist Laura Gordon (Good People) as Stage Manager, Di'Monte Henning (Guys and Dolls) as George Gibbs, Carrie Hitchcock (Skylight's Annie) as Professor Willard, Chiké Johnson (Of Mice and Men) as Dr. Gibbs, Elizabeth Ledo (Death of a Salesman) as Mrs. Gibbs, Rep Associate Artist James Pickering (The Foreigner) as Constable Warren, 2012/13 Acting EPR Jamie Rezanour as Mrs. Soames, longtime APT Core Member James Ridge as Simon Stinson, Rána Roman (Mrs. Cratchit in A Christmas Carol) as Mrs. Webb, Jonathan Smoots (In The Next Room or The Vibrator Play) as Joe Stoddard, Jonathan Wainwright (Scrooge in A Christmas Carol) as Man in Auditorium/Farmer McCarty, and Matt Zambrano (The Foreigner) as Mr. Webb.
The 2017/18 Emerging Professional Residents round out the ensemble featuring Annelyse Ahmad, Anthony Baldasare, Brade Bradshaw, Kim Giddens, Trachel Yvette Green, Erin Logan, Alex Morales, Kelsey Rodriguez and Daniel Stock. The young performer cast includes Phinlee Clarkin (Milwaukee), Zachary Church (West Bend), Priyanka Guptasarma (Bayside), Bree Kazinski (Dousman), Zabdiel Pozos-Lopez (Milwaukee), Selma Rivera (Milwaukee), Gabe Smith (Fox Point) and Jack Trettin (Whitefish Bay).
The creative team for Our Town includes direction by Associate Artistic Director Brent Hazelton (McGuire, Liberace!), music direction by Rep Associate Artist Dan Kazemi (Guys and Dolls), scenic design by Scott Davis (Grounded), costume design by Rachel Lartiz (One House Over), lighting design by Noele Stollmack (Animal Farm), sound design by Barry G. Funderburg (A Christmas Carol) and stage manager Kimberly Carolus (One House Over).
Our Town illuminates the powerful bonds that hold communities together through everyday life and moments of crisis, as it follows the lives of the Gibbs, Webbs, and their friends and neighbors. With humor, wit, and exceptionally powerful storytelling, Wilder delivers universal truths about what it means to be human and encourages us to live life to its fullest.
