Milwaukee Repertory Theater announced today that it will be the recipient of the prestigious 2013 United Performing Arts Fund's Management & Organizational Performance Excellence Award, sponsored by Northwestern Mutual. Additionally, The Rep also announced that in honor of its 60th Anniversary Season, it is conducting a 60th Season Challenge fundraising campaign. The results from this campaign will help The Rep maintain its high level of artistic excellence and provide the quality theater that Milwaukee audiences have come to expect.

The UPAF Management & Organizational Performance Excellence Award will be presented to The Rep at the United Performing Arts Fund Annual Meeting to be held in December. Requirements for winning the award included displaying exceptional work in the areas of finance, administrative planning, artistic planning, accessibility and audience development. The Rep performed the best out of the Cornerstone Groups on UPAF's Organizational Performance Scorecard.

The Rep's 60th Season Challenge is a fundraising campaign in honor of celebrating 60 years of artistic excellence, commitment to the Milwaukee community and to develop new support. Anonymous donors have stepped forward and pledged to match every new or increased gift up to $200,000. What this means is that each additional dollar given now will be matched dollar for dollar by anonymous donors, doubling the impact of each additional gift given to The Rep. Board President Judy Hansen commented: "As the prestigious 2013 UPAF Management & Organizational Performance Excellence Award indicates, under the leadership of Managing Director Chad Bauman and Artistic Director Mark Clements, The Rep is a well managed and fiscally responsible major regional theater." She continued, "That being said, The Rep still needs continued support from the Milwaukee community and because we are well-managed, donors can be guaranteed that donations are stewarded well."

Chad Bauman added, "We believe The Rep is much more than just entertainment - it's a vital part of the Milwaukee community and adds to the cultural vibrancy of our region. With the 13 productions The Rep stages each year, our goal is to delight, challenge and move audiences. We also believe passionately that The Rep can and should make a real difference in our community. This year we are partnering with a variety of local organizations on some exciting projects that will teach, inspire and engage our community in important conversations."
