Milwaukee Children's Choir begins its 17th performance season Sunday, November 14, when its choristers gather to joyfully celebrate the beauty of nature and give thanks for the bounty of fall. "Come all you village people, join the harvest fun!" With these lyrics, the young singers of Milwaukee Children's Choir will open "A Celebration of Autumn Beauty." The public is invited to hear the delightful sound of MCC's young choristers singing in celebration and thanks.
Included in program repertoire are Grayston Ives' Village Festival (quoted above), a Cherokee Lullaby (arranged by Browsey and Lantz), Srul Irving Glick's Psalm Trilogy (performed in Hebrew), and Earlene Rentz' energetic setting of "Over the River and Through the Woods." John Rutter's choral masterworks All Things Bright and Beautiful and For the Beauty of the Earth are on the program, as is The Road Not Taken from Randall Thompson's stunning Frostiana choral suite, and Greg Jasperse's jazzy arrangement of Fields of Gold by Sting. The Milwaukee community is blessed with hundreds of MCC choristers who come together from all corners of the seven-county area to raise their voices in song. We encourage the public to see this local treasure November 14, and share the heartfelt sentiment that will permeate the concert: "Thank you for giving my heart a voice."
