Marcus Center to Host 2016 Flag Day Celebration

The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts is hosting its 7th annual Flag Day Celebration on Tuesday, June 14, which is sponsored by the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts and CBRE/ESI. Festivities are at the Marcus Center's Peck Pavilion from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The theme is Honoring the Dead by Serving the Living and this event is free and open to the public.

Starting at 10:00 a.m., there will be a Naturalization Ceremony to kick off the event. Following the ceremony, the Milwaukee Metro Non-Commissioned Officers Council will perform a Presentation of Colors and will proceed with the National Anthem performed by Karen Nordby followed by an invocation by David Sorenson, CH 'Lte,' USAR 'Ret.' Iraq OIFII.
A moment of silence and POW/MIA is being presented by Ray Pasbrig, USMC Vietnam Veteran and James Fialkowski, GySgt USMC Retired/DSO American Legion WI, is the Master of Ceremonies. Paul Mathews, President and CEO of the Marcus Center, will welcome guests and veterans.

Our keynote speaker for the program is Michael Kirchner, Director, UWM Military & Veterans Resource Center. He spent six years in the National Guard, including one- year deployment to Iraq, where he was recognized as the 2004-2005 Soldier of the Year in Bravo Battery 1/126 Field Artillery. The East to West Jam Band will conclude the program, offering live entertainment. The celebration will also include community resource tables, along with fun kid-friendly activities.
