The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts and Milwaukee Public Schools are teaming up to offer a performing arts outreach program called Arts Connect.

The Center is thrilled to offer this program exclusively for MPS' Riverside University High School students that began this morning. This opportunity is free of cost to 20 students from Riverside University High School who have a strong interest in the performing arts. This program is designed to allow these students to experience the various aspects of the performing arts including exploration of various college and career possibilities.

The weeklong Summer Intensive began this morning and runs through Friday, July 10. Various workshops will be held from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and sessions include movement classes by Danceworks, Inc., a tour of the Marcus Center, face to face with local actors/actresses, career exploration with Marcus Center staff and applying for college tips with UW-Milwaukee and UW-Whitewater.

The weeklong intensive will wrap up with two master classes with the cast of MOTOWN THE MUSICAL. These master classes will teach the students skills in auditioning for roles, along with dance and acting skills to enhance their performances. The students will also have an opportunity to see MOTOWN THE MUSICAL live on Sunday, July 12.

The Arts Connect outreach program will continue with MPS' Riverside University High School throughout the year with the Marcus Center's upcoming Broadway and Off Broadway 2015/2016 season.
