Join nearly 1000 members of Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) as they open their 2013-14 season--MYSO's 58th--on Sunday, November 3, with "MYSO's 2013 Playathonpresented by the Bayshore Community Foundation," taking place in the Rotunda and Great Hall of Bayshore Town Center, 5900 N. Port Washington Rd., Milwaukee, 10:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. All 24 MYSO ensembles, including two full symphony orchestras, three large string orchestras, a wind ensemble, two flute choirs, two beginning string groups, twelve jazz combos and two steel drum bands, will present a colorful and varied musical program at this free event, the only MYSO event each season that features every MYSO ensemble! MYSO's young musicians, representing more than 200 schools, 60 communities and 14 counties in southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois, showcase the best in youth music in the region--all admitted to MYSO following competitive auditions.
This concert is the culminating event following an intensive five-week period of organization-wide fundraising, seeking critical support for MYSO's expansive music training and educational programs for some of our community's most accomplished young musicians. Playathon fundraising supports MYSO's significant effort to secure $1 million in contributed revenue each year, helping to ensure MYSO programming remains as affordable as possible for area young people.
Don't miss these wonderful opportunities to see and hear some of the most talented young musicians in southeastern Wisconsin.
