True to its mission of nurturing local theatre artists, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre (MCT) presents the Montgomery Davis Play Development Series staged reading of SILENT, by Madison-based playwright Gwendolyn Rice. J.C. Clementz directs a cast of six Milwaukee favorites including Kamille Dawkins, Richard Halverson, Chiké Johnson, Robert Spencer, Jonathan Wainwright and C. Michael Wright.

In SILENT, when Father Ziperski begins counseling an imprisoned mob boss, he expects to offer spiritual support and guidance. He does not expect to be visited by two FBI agents looking for a mob contact on the outside. Then another unexpected visitor arrives, asking to have his confession heard, and the boundaries of crime, guilt and forgiveness start to blur.

Playwright Gwendolyn Rice also wrote A THOUSAND WORDS which was part of the reading series in 2009 and then in 2012 MCT co-produced the world premiere with Forward Theater Company. Based in Madison, Ms. Rice has won awards for short fiction as well as playwriting, and has had plays produced in Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa.

J.C. Clementz (Company Director at Milwaukee Rep) makes his MCT directing debut with this new script. The cast of six features Kamille Dawkins making her MCT debut, Richard Halverson (HEROES, TRYING), Chiké Johnson (TAKE ME OUT), Robert Spencer (HEROES, BROOKLYN BOY, A WALK IN THE WOODS), Jonathan Wainwright (BROKEN & ENTERED, CRIMES OF THE HEART) and MCT Producing Artistic Director C. Michael Wright (ART, MAURITIUS, DUET FOR ONE).

SILENT will be performed on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in the Skylight Bar & Bistro, located on the second level of the Broadway Theatre Center, 158 N. Broadway in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward. Tickets for the reading are Pay-What-You-Can at the door. Seating is first-come, first-served.

The Skylight Bar & Bistro, operated by Indulge Wine Room, will be open for dinner and refreshments starting at 5:30 pm. Dinner reservations are welcomed in advance by emailing skylight@getindulge.com or calling 414.291.3773.
