Hartland's Lake Country Playhouse is proud to present its upcoming summer production of Stephen Sondheim' Assassins, with direction by Sandra Renick and Breanne Brennan and music direction by Catherine Pfeiler.

Directors Sandra Renick and Breanne Brennan say, "Stephen Sondheim is arguably the most prolific composer for the American musical theater. His work is thought provoking, heart-wrenching, and deeply honest, which makes those who witness his work think and analyze the world around them. Assassins is known as Sondheim's favorite of all his works, and the stellar cast of local actors we have assembled do more than give this work justice - they give it life."

Assassins features Justin Spanbauer as "The Balladeer," Joe Nolan as "The Proprietor," Bryan Noll as "John Wilkes Booth," Eric Chesney as "John Hinkley," Mike Crowley as "Sam Byck," Paula Garcia as "Sarah Jane Moore," Nate C. Groonwald as "Guiseppe Zangara," Eric William Jones as "Leon Czolgosz," Nick Reit as "Charles Guiteau," and Lindsey Riesinger as "Lynette 'Squeaky' Fromme." The ensemble features James Baker, Melody Lopac, Katie Lynne Krueger, Marty Graffenius, Zach Sharrock, Paul Weir, Ava Bush, Ami Majeskie, Amanda Kerr, Noah Nethery and Jacob Koch.

The production team for Assassins includes Brenda Nemec, production stage manager; Breanne Brennan, scenic and production design; Heather Patterson, costume design; Mark Meyers, assistant lighting design; Nancy Hurd, wig and hair design; Eric William Jones, make-up design, Megan Munro, properties design; Ron Ehrlich, technical direction; Cindy Vogt, scenic painting; and Jacob Sudbrink, orchestra consultant.

Assassins runs tonight, July 9, through July 26 at Lake Country Playhouse, 221 E Capitol Drive, Hartland, WI. Tickets are available online. For a full list of performance dates and times, as well as ticket information, visit www.lakecountryplayhousewi.org.

ABOUT THE SHOW
Embodied by America's four successful and five would-be presidential assassins, Assassins is a story deeply rooted in Americana, and our country's rich and diverse history. A multiple Tony Award-winning theatrical tour-de-force, Assassins combines Sondheim's signature blend of intelligently stunning lyrics and beautiful music with a panoramic story of our nation's culture of celebrity and the violent means some will use to obtain it. Bold, original, disturbing, and alarmingly funny, Assassins is perhaps the most thought-provoking musical ever written.

ABOUT SANDRA RENICK, director
Sandra Renick started her theatrical career at the age of 15 studying acting, dance and directing through college with a degree in Theatre, and continues to hone her craft as an adult. Favorite principle roles include "Bloody Mary" in South Pacific; "Miss Maudie" in To Kill a Mockingbird; and "Smitty" in How to Succeed. Favorite directorial was Sweeney Todd. All these favorites took place on the LCP stage, though Sandra is heavily involved in many other theatres around Waukesha County.

ABOUT BREANNE BRENNAN, director
Breanne Brennan is a 2008 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a BA in Radio-TV-Film and Theatre. While not on stage, she is usually busy designing sound for shows at Old World Wisconsin, Lake Country Playhouse, Waukesha Civic Theatre, and a variety of short films. She co-directed The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Theatre on Main, and LCP's smash hit Sweeney Todd along with her "dear sister" Sandra.

ABOUT CATHERINE PFEILER, music director
Catherine is a long-time educator and director who now brings her passion for music and theatre to Lake Country Playhouse. She has served as music director for every musical endeavor at the Playhouse for the last five years. Her mission is to bring excellence to community theatre, and to foster participation of young adults from our community. It began with summer shows, directing collegiate-aged young people, many of them former students, in an alumni show. Past summer shows have included Bonnie & Clyde; Songs for a New World; I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change; The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee; and Legally Blonde. She also was the music director for LCP's Spamalot!, Sweeney Todd, and A Christmas Carol. Cathy is so enjoying this next act of her life, and is happy to share what she has learned over the years!
