LION KING Choreographer Fagan Highlights Peck School Events, 6/3-9

Several notable events are occuring next week at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts. First, Tony Award-winning choreographer of THE LION KING, Garth Fagan, returns to the UWM Department of Dance for the opening of 'Summerdances: Uncovered,' running June 3 - 5 at the Mainstage Theatre. Then on Sunday, June 6th, the Fine Arts Quartet opens its 'Summer Evenings of Music' Festival at the Bader Concert Hall.

'Summerdances: Uncovered' runs June 3 - 5, 7:30pm at the Mainstage Theatre. Five choreographic premieres and an American masterpiece herald the summer dance season in the UW-Milwaukee Department of Dance's production of 'Summerdances: Uncovered.' The performance will showcase Tony-award winning choreographer of THE LION KING, Garth Fagan's, seminal work 'From Before,' as well as premieres by Simone Ferro, ElizaBeth Johnson, Danielle Kuepper, Janet Lilly, and Krislyn World. On June 6, the Fine Arts Quartet's 'Summer Evenings of Music' will be presented at 7:30pm in the Bader Concert Hall. Join the Fine Arts Quartet for an evening of music-making as they celebrate the works of Schumann, Glazunov and Brahms. The series includes four Sunday evenings performances on June 6, 13, 20, and 27. Tickets are $20 - $12.

From June 1 - 9, a workshop in Recording Techniques & Technologies will be presented in Music B60. This is a comprehensive look at the recording tools and techniques used by modern professionals and musicians, with real world demonstrations in every class. Six sessions are held: June 1 - 3 & June 7 - 9, 2010. Space is still available. The program fee is $200.

The Peck School of the Arts is at the center of the daily functioning of the University. Hundreds of performances, film screenings and exhibitions are offered each year by the Peck School to showcase your talents and to share your sense of pride and accomplishment.
