The Greendale Community Theatre (GCT) invites you to become "part of their world" as it presents the Milwaukee area premier of Disney's The Little Mermaid. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its unforgettably singable songs like "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl," and of course, "Part of Your World."

Disney's The Little Mermaid takes place in Greendale High School's Reiman Family Arts Wing, 6801 Southway, Greendale. Performance dates are July 21, 22, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29, and 30. All performances are at 7:30 p.m. except for the 2:00 p.m. matinee on Sunday, July 24.

Adapted from Disney's Broadway production and motion picture, this under the sea journey features mermaid Princess Ariel (and her best friends Flounder and Sebastian) as she dreams about what life would be like as a human.

The show's director, Karl Miller, has nearly 40 years of experience performing in, directing and choreographing countless shows for companies including Skylight Music Theatre, All In Productions, UW Whitewater and Concordia University. This is his first time directing a show at GCT. "The creative team here at Greendale is top-notch, and I am so thankful to be part of it," Miller said.

Miller is excited about every aspect of this show, from the choreography to the special effects, and most importantly, the gifted cast. "The talent is unbelievable! Our main characters are going to rip the stage apart, the ensembles are going to do amazing things, and the vocals will blow the roof off the theater! These voices are amazing," he said.

As a musical theatre teacher at First Stage Children's Theatre Academy for the last 10 years, Miller is excited about putting on such a family-friendly show. "95% of my life is working with kids. So to put Ariel and friends live on stage for all to see is exciting," he said. "I really don't know anyone who wouldn't enjoy this show. People should come for the outstanding set, the memorable music, but most of all, the talented cast."

Known for its edgy show choices and next-to-professional production value and talent, GCT has captivated audiences since 2003 with productions like Avenue Q, Aida, Next to Normal, RENT and LES MISERABLES.

Tickets are available online at greendaletheatre.org or by calling the Box Office at (414) 817-7600. Tickets are also available at the door at GCT's Box Office which opens at 6:00 p.m. on performance days. Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors.

If a parent wishes for their small child to sit in their lap and share their seat, the child must be below the age of 4.
