The Greendale Community Theatre (GCT) invites you on a thought provoking journey that considers the lives we lead versus the lives we might have led with If/Then, a contemporary Broadway musical about starting over in New York City.

Choice, fate and the promise of a fresh start pair with unforgettable songs and a deeply moving story by the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning creators of Next to Normal to create a fascinating, ambitious and original musical experience. If/Then simultaneously follows one woman's two possible life paths, painting a deeply moving portrait between what is what could be.

If/Then takes place in Greendale High School's Reiman Family Arts Wing, 6801 Southway, Greendale. Performance dates are July 20, 21, 22 & 27, 28, 29. All performances are at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $15 for General Admission. Student / Senior tickets are $12. Tickets are available online at greendaletheatre.org or by calling the Box Office at (414) 817-7600. Tickets are also available at the door at GCT's Box Office which opens at 6:00 p.m. on performance days.

Director Amber Smith chose If/Then for many reasons, the first being the strong central female characters.

"This show is near and dear to my heart," Smith said. "The story is beautiful, the score is impressive, it's a little bit gritty, and I absolutely love doing shows that showcase strong female characters and talent."

"The cool thing about this show is that it's about everyday life. The phenomenon that any little decision you make can change your life. It's so complex and interesting," she said.

This is the first time If/Then will be performed in the Milwaukee area, which helped attract a group of extremely talented actors.

"I haven't seen such strong female auditions in a really long time, it was amazing," Smith said. "I even had to ask the women to learn a completely new song right on the spot because it was so tough to make decisions."

But it's not just the lead characters that will impress the audience. "Every member of the cast has a stand-out moment, it's truly a vocalist's dream," Smith said. "You'll get chills, I guarantee."

Smith encourages people of all ages and walks of life to attend the show, because everyone can relate.

"Everyone has felt that whole "shoulda, woulda, coulda" thing at one time or another. We see how even little choices or decisions in life can have a huge impact - not just on you, but on those you love or see every day," she said. "This story will help people appreciate how valuable every day is."

Known for its edgy show choices and next-to-professional production value and talent, GCT has captivated audiences since 2003 with productions like Avenue Q, Aida, Next to Normal, RENT and LES MISERABLES.
