Cantos de las Americas Present A Tribute To Education 4/23 At Uihlein Hall

On Friday, April 23 at 6:30 p.m. in Uihlein Hall, Cantos de las Americas will provide a captivating program from beginning to end. It is going to be an evening for all time in which fourteen MPS schools at their best in an annual celebration of culture, traditions, folk dancing, music and learning as interpreted proud students.  A magnificent journey exploring the glamour, rhythms and artistic splendors that uniquely manifest the strength, creativity and beauty cultivated in the "Greater American Culture."  Hear the music, love the dances, feel the lyrics and experience the richness of the United States unparalleled diversity parading in the center stage of Uihlein Hall.
 
Mariachis, Dominican bachatas, salsas, native American dances, European dramatic skits, cumbias, African American Southeast Asian dances, contemporary American pops, and much more will be featured in the program.
 
Participating schools will offer great performances under the tutelage of choreographers committed to the preservation of International Folklore in the Greater Milwaukee Area. Cantos is generously sponsored by the Forest County Potawatomi Foundation, Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, M & I Bank, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Division of Academic Affairs and the Milwaukee Public Schools Bilingual Education Division in collaboration with the principals of the following schools: Burbank, Allen-Field, Kagel, Forest Home, Holmes, Hayes, Riley, Rogers Academy, Milwaukee Spanish Immersion, Lincoln Street, Morgandale,Vieau and Fratney.
 
Cantos de las Americas is free and open to the public. The event will be guided by the Masters of Ceremony, Dr. Abe Cacerez of World House Music and Yolanda Hernandez Principal of Hayes Bilingual.
