Songs for a New World is, according to Brown, about onemoment. Its about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turnaround and go back. These are the stories and characters of today, the Songs for aNew World.With a rousing score that blends elements of pop, gospel and jazz, featuring tightharmonies and darling vocals, Songs for a New World transports its audience from thedeck of a Spanish sailing ship bound for a new land, to the ledge of a New Yorkpenthouse. Characters range from a young man in the Bronx who dreams of becominga famous basketball player to a forlorn and neglected Mrs. Claus lamenting asChristmas approaches.Downriver Actors Guilds Songs for a New World, directed by Tamara Laflin, featuresthe talents of Melanie Aue, Mishana Green, Christopher Joseph, and Sam Ramirez.The show is produced by Debbie Aue and the team features vocal direction by GeraldHymer and music direction by Jeremy St. Martin.The show runs September 12-14 at 7:30 pm and Sunday September 15 at 3:00 pm.Tickets for the performances are Seniors/Students $16.00 and Adults $18.00.*Opening night tickets will only be $14.00*About the Downriver Actors GuildThe Downriver Actors Guild Theater group is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organized for thebenefit of members of the community to provide education, entertainment and exposureto cultural experiences.
