One of the great American abstract expressionists, Mark Rothko created paintings called "impenetrable fortresses of color." In this winner of six Tonys, Rothko and his new assistant work feverishly on his famous commission for the Four Seasons restaurant. Spanning the course of the two-year commission, the young apprentice challenges his master, causing Rothko to question what he has become, and whether his greatest achievement might also be his undoing.
