Into the Woods at Concordia University Theatre

Concordia University Theatre presents INTO THE WOODS, Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and Book by James Lapine. Presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International.

Based on well-known fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm, INTO THE WOODS won multiple Tony and Drama Desk Awards when it premiered on Broadway in 1987. Boasting one of Sondheim’s most memorable scores, including “Giants in the Sky”, “On the Steps of the Palace” and “Children Will Listen”, the story follows the adventures and comic misadventures of a collection of wish-makers. Among them are Jack, who wants his beloved cow to give milk; Cinderella, who dreams of attending the King’s Festival, and a childless Baker and his wife, who long to rid themselves of a dreaded curse. Together they head into the woods on a quest to achieve their heart’s desires, and face unexpected consequences as a result. This production features a close collaboration between the university's outstanding theatre, music, and visual art programs. Performances run April 19-22, Thursday through Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 2 pm, Kreft Center for the Arts, 4090 Geddes Road, Ann Arbor, 48105. Ticket prices range from $8 (student/senior) to $14.
