Eight original ten-minute plays in one afternoon! When you bring together creative playwrights and their short original plays, eight talented directors, 18 amazing actors, and a troupe of dedicated volunteers, you have Grosse Pointe Theatres Take Ten: Ten-Minute Play Festival.
This creative endeavor featuring eight original ten-minute plays from Michigan and North Carolina playwrights will be performed Saturday, May 7, at 2 p.m. in the Undercroft at Christ Church Grosse Pointe.
This marks the eighth year of Grosse Pointe Theatres playwriting festival. The original plays featured in the May 7 Take Ten festival are as follows:
- The New Wife by Stella Woitulewicz, directed by Emmajean Evans
- Thanksgiving, Exit. by Leslie Wagner, directed by Peter DiSante
- Moonlight Run by Peter DiSante, directed by Michele Karl
- Blaze of Glory by Shawn Henry, directed by Janie Burkey
- While You Were Out by Julie Nixon, directed by Laura Bartell
- The Last Word by Margie Reins Smith, directed by Arlene Schoenherr
- Battle Scars by Peter DiSante, directed by Elizabeth Rager, and
- Dan & Dianes Delightful Deli Diner by Dan Woitulewicz, directed by Krista Pennington
Eighteen actors will play a total of 23 characters, and several other volunteers are working behind the scenes to make sure each area of the festival runs seamlessly, resulting in a wonderful experience for audiences. Guests can stay for the entire festival or they may arrive or leave in between the presented plays. There will be an intermission.
