One of the world’s favorite dance companies, Alvin Ailey® American Dance Theater grew from a 1958 New York performance and rejuvenated American dance – celebrating the African-American experience and the enrichment of modern dance globally. Judith Jamison, Ailey’s 1989 successor, selected Robert Battle to succeed her in 2011. The Washington Post declared he “has the troupe’s forward momentum well in hand.” The company is a recipient of the National Medal of Arts and is recognized by a U.S. Congressional resolution as an American “Cultural Ambassador to the World.” Through 30 extraordinary dancers, Alvin Ailey® American Dance Theater celebrates a unified cultural experience. Don’t miss this exciting evening featuring the company’s signature masterpiece, Revelations.
