A 2002 Pulitzer Prize finalist, "Yellowman" is a twoperson multicharacter drama about an AfricanAmerican woman who dreams of life beyond the confines of her small town South Carolina upbringing and the lightskinned AfricanAmerican man whose fate is tragically intertwined with hers. Starring Casaundra Freeman as Alma and Jonathan West as Eugene, the pair grow from childhood friends to blossoming lovers surrounded by a backdrop of racial tension that could destroy their lives.
"The simplicity of this play and its rawness will move you," said John Manfredi, Executive Director at the Network and Set Designer for "Yellowman." "The dialogue is great, but the way Orlandersmith includes moments where the play pushes forward without words is very powerful. It's a unique play and I'm happy to be able to assist in that raw bareness through the set design."
Casaundra Freeman (Alma) won a Wilde Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama and last appeared at the Network as Bonita in "Moonglow." Jonathan West (Eugene) was last seen at the Network in "Richard III" as both King Edward and James Tyrrel.
