Children, adults, and families are invited to celebrate Wild Swan Theater's 38th season! Our annual concert to benefit Wild Swan Theater, Swanapalooza!, will be held at The Ark on Sunday, April 15th at 1:00pm. We are excited to have confirmed an outstanding line up of family-friendly entertainment, including The Chenille Sisters and Gemily: Gemini + Emily. Storyteller extraordinaire and AADL Youth Librarian, Laura Pershin Raynor, will be our emcee for this not-to-be-missed afternoon of music and stories for the whole family. This event will be shadow interpreted by Synergy on Stage for Deaf audience members. Each of these gifted artists has helped Wild Swan soar and each are donating their time and talent so that ticket purchases can contribute directly to fulfilling our mission of making theater for children of all ages and abilities. As a producer of new and original plays and music, Wild Swan has received numerous awards for our ingenious artistry, our skillful storytelling, innovative audience accessibility program, and projects for participants with disabilities.
THE CHENILLE SISTERS insist that they are sisters, it's just that they have different parents. Related or not, these three women have slowly and carefully made a name for themselves-first across the Midwest and then throughout the nation-as hilarious and talented songstresses. The Chenilles are Cheryl Dawdy, Connie Huber, and Grace Morand. They hail from Ann Arbor, Michigan, where they still live when they're not touring, which they seem to do constantly.
GEMILY is made up of San, along with his brother Laz, as the duo Gemini, with the inclusion of San's daughter, Emily Slomovits. Together, their music features a wide range of traditional and contemporary folk, jazz and classical music, Broadway show tunes, and more. Their beautifully blended harmony vocals and exciting instrumental work breathe new life into a wide variety of music, and audiences thrill to their warmth, humor, and ease on stage.
LAURA PERSHIN RAYNOR is our emcee for Swanapalooza! An award-winning storyteller and librarian at the Ann Arbor District Library, Laura performs across the country and has released two CDs of her stories. Laura brings to life the colorful cast of characters from her unique and loving family.
