On April 22, 2010, Water Works Theatre company was awarded awarded its largest single grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA). This $7500 grant will enable Water Works to continue to its professional theatre programs. Additionally, the grant allows the theatre to provide two hearing impaired performances of its summer production, TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA.

Regarding the award, Water Works Theatre Company’s Managing Director, Katja Thomakos stated, “Water Works recognizes that the people of the state of Michigan are making hard budget decisions now more than ever, and so are we. The support of the MCACA will enable us to strengthen our mission of enhancing the quality of life in our community by providing professional theatre and distinctive arts education programs close to home. This funding will allow us to offer two very special onstage sign language interpretive performances of TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA, allowing members of the deaf community to enjoy an evening of live Shakespeare alongside the rest of our audience.”

Water Works is also grateful for the support of The Royal Oak Arts Council and The Dancing Angel Fund. Water Works continues to count on local support from theatergoers and members of the community who can donate to the program through a variety of methods through fundraisers and shows.
