The Victoria Playhouse Petrolia is thrilled to announce an upcoming four-part speaker series called 'Proud to be Canadian'. With the assistance of the Celebrate Ontario grant they received earlier this Spring, they will be inviting notable Canadians from various vocations, to present a one-hour discussion, complete with multi-media components, discussing their patriotic pride. Following each inquisitive presentation, there will be an audience Q&A period, allowing patrons to chat with the special guests. Hosted by Canadian funny lady Linda Kash (well known for her Philadelphia Cream Cheese commercials), the shows will be an engaging interview style format, much like you would see on a daytime talk-show like Ellen.

Saturday, June 10 at 2pm, Michael "Pinball" Clemons will bring his inspiring story to the VPP stage. Noted as CFL's top athletic star, he not only took the Toronto Argonauts to CFL championship glory, but he also went on to become their Head Coach. His commitment to motivating today's youth is unparalleled.

On Saturday, July 15 at 8pm, Academy Award nominated actor, Graham Greene, will share his story. Known for his roles in Dances with Wolves and North of 60, this Gemini Award winner will bring his unique voice to what makes him proud to be Canadian.

Next up, Canadian comedian Colin Mochrie joins the fun on Saturday, August 26 at 8pm. Named Canadian Comedy Person of the Year in 2013 and recognized internationally for his role on 'Whose Line is it Anyway?' Mochrie is a fan favourite, who will undoubtedly bring lots of laughs to Petrolia during his visit.

The series wraps up on Saturday, September 16 at 8pm with our Prime Minister's mother, Margaret Trudeau. In addition to being Justin Trudeau's mother, she is also the former wife of Pierre Trudeau, Canada's 15th Prime Minister. An author, actress, TV personality and writer, Ms. Trudeau will bring her diverse perspective to why she is proud to be Canadian.

Tickets for all four events can be purchased for a special price of $150. Individual tickets are also on sale, with student and senior rates available.

The VPP's 2017 season is well underway and is celebrating Canada all summer long. On stage until June 17 is Canadian playwright, Mark Crawford's, The Birds and the Bees. Running from July 4-23, is Happy Together-1967, celebrating the top musical hits of Canada's centennial year. Folks Like Us, on stage August 1-12 plays homage to our country's incredible folk music performers. From August 15-27, the VPP brings the inspiring story of Portia White's rise to fame as Canada's first Black singer to the stage in Portia. The season wraps up with Rockabilly Swingtime, showcasing our country's best talent, from September 5-24.
