Two Muses Theatre's 2015-16 Season to Include 'PIAZZA,' 'BRIDESMAID' & More

Two Muses Theatre, a non-profit, professional theatre based in West Bloomfield, Michigan, will produce three musicals, two plays and some very special events in their fifth season.

Two Muses Theatre opens their fifth season with a contemporary comedy: Always a Bridesmaid by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten. Always a Bridesmaid is the rollicking tale of four loyal and determined women who have sworn to keep the promise they made on the night of their Senior Prom: to be in each other's weddings ... no matter what. More than thirty years later, these Southern friends-for-life are still making "the long walk" for each other, determined to honor that vow. Directed by Steve DeBruyne.

Performances September 11 through September 27, 2015.

Halloween will bring with it a return, limited engagement: Two Muses Presents the Two Mediums with Elizabeth Brown and Charles Klepadlo, certified Mediums who will provide evidential proof that life still continues after death. Scheduled for Halloween weekend, this event provides the audience an opportunity to receive a message from their departed loved ones. It's about reconnecting heaven and earth, allowing these two mediums to bridge the two worlds and bring forth messages of love and comfort to audience members.

One Weekend Only: October 30 through November 1, 2015.

In November, Two Muses will present the beautiful musical: The Light in the Piazza. Book by Craig Lucas. Music and Lyrics by Adam Guettel. The Light in the Piazza is a wondrous musical and winner of many Tony Awards, as simple and complicated as its ineffable subject--love. It's the story of a young American woman, whose chance encounter with a charming young Italian man in a Florentine piazza sets off a whirlwind romance, with an unsettling revelation. Directed by Joe Bailey. Music direction by Jeff Bobick.

Performances November 6 through November 22, 2015.

The New Year rings in with the 2nd Annual Women's Playwriting Fest. The festival will consist of a large variety of award-winning and new short plays all written and directed by women. Each show will provide a unique theatre experience, as a different set of plays will be produced at each of the three performances. Program directed by Emilio Rodriguez.

One Weekend Only: January 22 through 24, 2016.

In February of 2016, Two Muses presents Into the Woods, Jr. Book by James Lapine.

Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The Brothers Grimm hit the stage in this adaptation of one of Sondheim's most popular works designed especially for young performers. All of your favorite characters-Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk), and the Witch-meet and interact in this whimsical epic fairytale about wishes, family and the choices we make. Directed by Lauren Nowakowski

Performances February 26 through February 28, 2016.

In April of 2016, Two Muses will present the Pulitzer Prize-winning seriocomedy: How I Learned to Drive by Paula Vogel.

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, How I Learned to Drive is a wildly funny, surprising and devastating tale of survival as seen through the lens of a troubling relationship between a young girl and an older man.

Directed by Diane Hill.

Performances April 1 through April 17, 2016.

To close the season, Two Muses Theatre will present the rollicking and hilarious musical comedy, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. Book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts

I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change is a hilarious musical that takes on the truths and myths behind that contemporary conundrum known as "the relationship." Act I explores the journey from dating and waiting to love and marriage, while Act II reveals the agonies and triumphs of in-laws and newborns, trips in the family car and pick-up techniques of the geriatric set. Directed by Diane Hill and Carrie Jay Sayer.

Performances June 3 through June 19, 2016.

Individual ticket prices range from $10 to $25, with discounts for seniors (62+), students and groups. In addition, a subscription program is available with savings of 20% off the individual ticket prices for this blockbuster season. Two Muses Theatre performs in the intimate 130-seat performance space located behind the Starbucks Café wall, attached to the Barnes & Noble at 6800 Orchard Lake Road in West Bloomfield (south of Maple). Patrons who arrive early can shop for books and gifts, grab a snack or dinner at Starbucks, and enjoy their coffee drinks inside the theatre. There is ample free parking and handicap accessibility.

Two Muses Theatre is a nonprofit, professional theatre dedicated to increasing opportunities for female artists and artisans. All funds raised from performances and educational workshops go directly into maintaining the theatre and contributing to charitable organizations centered on women and families. A portion of this season is supported by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.
