Two Muses Theatre presents The Current by local playwright, Sean Paraventi. The show will be performed today, March 21st through April 13th on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:00pm.
Two Muses Theatre, recent recipient of an operational grant from Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) and the NEA, performs in the intimate 150-seat theatre inside Barnes & Noble Booksellers, located at 6800 Orchard Lake Road in West Bloomfield (south of Maple). Special events linked with the production are Psychic Sundays, an opening night Bachelorette party, and a chance for audience members to donate their gently-used bridal gowns to a good cause.
The Current centers on a bachelorette party that takes an interesting turn when the bride-to-be and bridesmaids visit a psychic on their way to the bar and realize that, although they have been friends since high school, there is still more to learn more about each other and themselves. The Current is directed by Nancy Kammer (Grosse Point Park), and the cast of five Michigan ladies includes: Tara Tomcsik (Northville), Kristin Schultes (Grosse Pointe), Alysia Kolascz (Ann Arbor), Kelly Rose Voigt (Farmington), and Two Muses co-founder Diane Hill (Wolverine Lake).
PSYCHIC SUNDAYS: On Psychic Sundays, audience members who stay after the show will experience actual psychic readings done by popular local psychics. Audience members will also have the opportunity to purchase individual readings after the gallery reading .
THE BRIDE'S PROJECT: During this production of The Current, Two Muses will team up with the community organization, The Bride's Project, a unique organization dedicated to raising funds for the Cancer Support Community of Greater Ann Arbor through the sale of donated bridal gowns. All profits from the sale of the gowns go to the Cancer Support programs and services for people touched by cancer. Audience members who contribute a gently-used bridal gown will receive two free tickets to The Current.
OPENING NIGHT BACHELORETTE PARTY: The opening night audience is invited to attend a bachelorette party in the lobby of Two Muses Theatre. The party begins at 7:20pm and will feature bachelorette party games and prizes.
