Traveling Troupe Will Celebrate 25th Anniversary with Free Performances

Celebrating 25 years of school performances, The Traveling Troupe has been giving back to the West Michigan through theater - "theater for everyone" as their motto. Traveling Troupe is made-up of a group of pre-teens, teens and adults volunteering their time to perform a family-friendly production for children aged, 8-14 years and their families. All performances take place in area of Kent County Public and private schools.

However, four performances on March 7, 14, and 21 (and June 6) will be held at Civic Theatre, and are open to the public, and totally free. Families are encouraged to attend. Traveling Troupe performances offers children and families a 'first theatre experience' and brings favorite childhood books to life for a transforming 'page to stage' experience.

THE HUNDRED DRESSES, a Musical, brings to life the story of Wanda Petronski. As the new girl in school, her classmates at Franklin Elementary don't quite know how accept a girl with the funny accent and a faded blue dress. When she claims to have one hundred dresses in her closet at home, the teasing begins. Both funny and touching, THE HUNDRED DRESSES, message of childhood bullying continues to resonate with readers today. Based on the beloved books by Eleanor Estes, THE HUNDRED DRESSES takes this classic book and infuses it with a playful score and high energy antics which will stick with audience members long after the curtain call
