Theatre and Dance at Wayne presents Charles Mee's diverse play Wintertime December 8-17, 2016 at The Studio Theatre.

Set in the present-day Midwest, Wintertime focuses on the comedic and dramatic convergence of a variety of love and partnerships, and the significance of it throughout the seasons.

Tickets are $10 - $15 and are available by calling the theatre box office at (313) 577-2972, online - wsustudio.com - or by visiting the box office in the Hilberry Theatre located at 4743 Cass Avenue on the corner of Hancock.

A theatrical carnival of romance, recrimination and cross-purposes, Wintertime is at its heart an energetic comedy about the miracle of love. Suffused with intellectual debates that tickle the aesthetic sensibility and romantic encounters that educate and surprise, Mee's cacophonic comedy celebrates love in all its foolish, absurd, and infinitely delightful varieties.

Mee's central inspiration for Wintertime was actually Plato's Symposium. The Greek word "Eros" represents desire - one cannot stay in love with what they already have; one desires that which they are missing. Mee's playful approach to love offers comedic relief during the dark hour of winter. A rarely produced play, Wintertime reinforces diversity not only by switching gender roles, but by bringing undergraduate and graduate students at Wayne State together on stage.

Warm, friendly and inviting, come on down to The Studio Theatre and out of the cold this season to enjoy love throughout the seasons with the cast of Wintertime!
