One local business has the solution for metro-Detroiters whose love life has gone to the dogs. The Social Connection announces three events geared to those looking for love this Valentine's Day - Must Love Dogs, Shred Your Ex and a Table For Eight member dinner.

Meeting a significant other is hard enough, let alone for pet owners. It takes a special connection and a shared appreciation for dog owners, in particular, to find the right mate. That's why The Social Connection has partnered with Waterford's Canine Resolution to bring together people and their pooches for a special quick-spark, speed-dating event - Must Love Dogs - at 2:00 p.m. on Valentine's Day, Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010.

"Must Love Dogs is a fun and funny way for singles who happen to own dogs to break the ice and meet new people," says Regina Stocco, president and owner of The Social Connection. "The Social Connection has teamed up with Canine Resolution to create a special niche event, specifically designed to help dateless Detroiters and their pets connect."

For $10 ($20 for non-members), single folks, ages 30-45, and their four-legged friends can partake in an afternoon of fun speed dating for dog lovers. The event includes quick-spark introductions for owners and pets, a glass of Dog House brand wine for speed daters, and doggie bags filled with treats for furry best friends.

This specially designed speed-dating opportunity allows both species to test compatibility on the spot. Couples that find a match will walk away with a coupon from Canine Resolution good for free obedience training for their dogs. Canine Resolution is located at 4180 West Walton Blvd., in Waterford, MI 48329. Please, no aggressive pooches or people.

Who ever said exes were good for nothing? The Social Connection has another great way to broach the Valentine's Day weekend with its third-annual Shred Your Ex, an Anti-Valentine's Day Party at 8 p.m. Thursday, February 11 at Dirty Martini in Novi.

"Not everyone looks forward to Valentine's Day, but it doesn't have to be this way," says Stocco. "The Social Connection has created Shred Your Ex - the anti Valentine's Day party - as a tongue and cheek way to have a great time while meeting new people. It's our third year hosting this hilarious and successful event."

For only $10 ($20 for non-members) jilted lovers - or for those just looking to move on in a symbolic manner - may bring a picture of an ex to surrender to the shredder in exchange for a free Zodiac cocktail or martini. Enjoy mixing with a great group of professional singles along with complimentary appetizers from 8:00-9:30 p.m. and music by Channel 955's DJ David B all night long.

Tickets to Must Love Dogs and Shred Your Ex may be purchased by calling 248-543-1000 or by visiting www.TheSocialConnection.com.

The Social Connection's third event is at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10 at D'Amatos in Royal Oak.
