The Snug Theatre Presents THE DIXIE SWIM CLUB

Five Southern women, whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team, set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. Free from husbands, kids, and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina's Outer Banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other's lives.

Our Dixie Girls may be serving up their Southern-fried humor in North Carolina but their special relationship is instantly recognizable to anyone, anywhere in the world who has and is a best friend.

As Don Marquis said: "There is nothing we like to see so much as the gleam of pleasure in a person's eye when he feels we have sympathized with him, understood him. At these moments something fine and spiritual passes between two friends. These are the moments worth living."

We delight in vicariously sharing the precious moments of our characters' decades long friendship because they call to mind the influences of our own loyal friends who helped to shape our lives and give meaning to our existence.

As put by our director, Kathy Conlon, "It is a privilege to present The Dixie Swim Club as a loving gift and a heartfelt 'thank you' to my dear friends and to friends everywhere. What would we do without them?"
