Best known for his searing plays The Last Days of Judas Iscariot and Jesus Hopped the A Train, Stephen Adly Guirgis' latest play, The Motherfucker with the Hat, finally makes its Michigan debut. Seen on Broadway in 2011 in an acclaimed production that starred Chris Rock and Bobby Canavale, The Ringwald's production will play an exclusive 3 week run at the Ferndale theatre.

Struggles with addiction, friendship, love, and the challenges of adulthood are at the center of The Motherfucker with the Hat. Jackie, a petty drug dealer, is just out of prison and trying to stay clean. He's also still in love with his coke-addicted childhood sweetheart, Veronica. When Jackie finds a mysterious hat in the apartment they share, he is convinced Veronica is cheating on him with the titular character. What happens after the discovery takes Jackie on a funny, profane, and profound journey that will change his very life.

Jamie Warrow directs a cast that includes Travis Reiff, Amy Probst, Sean Rodriguez Sharpe, Vanessa Sawson, and Brian Marable.

The production is designed by Alex Carr with Assistant Direction by Bailey Boudreau. It will be Stage Managed by Joshua Daniel Palmer.

The Motherfucker with the Hat opens Friday, March 28 and plays through Monday, April 14 at 8pm Friday, Saturday, and Monday nights with 3pm Sunday matinees. Ticket prices are $20.00 for Friday and Saturday performances, $15 for Sunday shows, and Monday nights are HALF OFF the original ticket price at only $10 a ticket.
