The Ringwald Theatre's acclaimed production of Stephen Karam's Sons of the Prophet must close Monday, April 15, two weeks earlier than announced.

Sons of the Prophet was shortlisted for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize and won the 2012 Drama Critics Circle and 2012 Outer Critics Circle awards for Best Play. If to live is to suffer, then Joseph Douaihy is more alive than most. A once-promising runner and distant, distant relation to Khalil Gibran, author of the perennial bestseller The Prophet, Joseph is now sidelined by injury; his health, sanity, and insurance premiums are on the line. In an age when modern medicine has a cure for just about everything, Sons of the Prophet is the funniest play about human suffering you're likely to see.

Sons of the Prophet features Sean McGettigan, Robbie Dwight, Marty Bufalini, Lisa Melinn, Christopher Tucker, Richard Payton, Amy Probst, Jasmine Rivera, and Katy Schoetzow.

Annette Madias directs.

Remaining performances of Sons of the Prophet are Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13 at 8PM, Sunday, April 14 at 3PM, and Monday, April 15 at 8PM.

Ticket prices are $20 for Friday and Saturday performances, $15 for Sunday shows, and Monday nights are half off the original ticket price at only $10 each. All students can now receive a $5 discount off normal ticket price on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday performances (available at the box office the day of the show with valid student ID).

Tickets can be purchased at www.TheRingwald.com or at the theater box office. The Ringwald box office opens 45 minutes before performances and tickets can be purchased with cash or Visa/Mastercard.

The Ringwald opened their doors five years ago on May 11, 2007 with Fatal Attraction: A Greek Tragedy. Quickly, The Ringwald became a mainstay of Detroit's theatre community. Past Productions include: Southern Baptist Sissies, Bug, Mercury Fur, RENT, and Evil Dead: The Musical. The Ringwald was named 2009 and 2012 Best Theatrical Troupe by Real Detroit and Best Place to See Local Theatre in 2010, 2011 and 2012 by the readers of Metro Times.
