After an unexpected cancellation of the season's highlight, The Tempest Project, The New Theatre Project presents a special event, the New Work Collage 2012: Taking Chances.

TNTP devotes itself to the creation of theatre via unconventional and collaborative methods, often taking huge artistic risk. Their series of classical adaptations into a contemporary text inspired by the members of the Ensemble's lives and talents drew to an abrupt close after extensive amounts of rehearsals and writing. "The Project ultimately could not find where it belonged," says Artistic Director Keith Paul Medelis. "Our Ensemble devotes so much of themselves to the work and cares about their stories deeply. If we are not able to agree on the product than I cannot allow the work to be produced. We stand behind our art one hundred percent of the time."

Faced with the closure, the Ensemble sought a new method of performance to take the place of the show. Quickly devised has been the New Work Collage 2012 which will feature live performances from local musicians presenting experimental work, artists displaying artwork, live painting, and excerpts from the now closed Tempest. The Ensemble will divulge only small portions of the script that was to receive a full production in May. The performance will also feature musings on the nature of the Project's failure and the ultimate necessity for artistic risk at any cost.

TNTP will also take the opportunity to announce some exciting details for the upcoming Season 3: Reinvention. Audiences will get the first glimpse at the season lineup, get the scoop on an exciting new project, and details on our most adventurous risk ever-something TNTP has never been crazy enough to attempt before. Why not now?
