In November, Two Muses Theatre will present the wondrous musical: The Light in the Piazza. (Book by Craig Lucas. Music and Lyrics by Adam Guettel.) The Light in the Piazza, winner of many Tony Awards, is as simple and complicated as its ineffable subject--love. When Clara falls for a charming young Italian man in a Florentine piazza, her mother must decide whether or not she will reveal truths about her daughter that could destroy the romance. The show will be performed on weekends, opening on November 6 and closing on November 22. The Light in the Piazza is directed by Joe Bailey, Artistic Director of The Ringwald Theatre in Ferndale, with musical direction by Jeff Bobick.

Diane Hill, Artistic Director of Two Muses Theatre (Wolverine Lake) plays Margaret Johnson, and another Two Muses regular, John DeMerell (White Lake) plays Signor Naccarelli. That's where the familiarity ends, says Diane Hill, as this production introduces some new, incredible singers to the Two Muses stage: Annie Kordas from Grosse Pointe and Vince Kelley from Ferndale will play the besotted Clara Johnson and equally enamored Fabrizio Naccarelli. Beth Lackey (Grand Blanc), Arjun Nagpal (Ann Arbor) and Aynsley Martindale (Ann Arbor) are Fabrizio's very Italian family. And Kevin Kuznia (Ferndale) rounds out the cast playing Roy Johnson, along with a variety of ensemble roles.

Performances run weekends, November 6 through November 22, with evening performances at 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and matinees at 2pm on Sundays. General admission advance tickets are $23 for adults, and $21 for students and senior citizens (62+). All tickets are $2 more at the door. Discounted advance tickets are available up to four hours before the performance and may be purchased online at www.TwoMusesTheatre.org or by phone at 248-850-9919 during box office hours, Monday through Saturday from 10am-5pm. Tickets are not sold through Barnes & Noble, and tickets may only be purchased in person one hour prior to each performance. Doors open 30 minutes prior to each performance. There is ample free parking and handicap accessibility. For more information, visit www.twomusestheatre.org.

In its fifth professional theatre season, Two Muses Theatre performs in the intimate 130-seat performance space located behind the Starbucks Café wall inside the West Bloomfield Barnes & Noble at 6800 Orchard Lake Road (south of Maple). Patrons who arrive early can shop for books and gifts, grab a snack or dinner at Starbucks, and enjoy their coffee drinks inside the theatre. The mission of Two Muses Theatre is to provide opportunities for women in theatre, and the theatre is proud to be a repeat recipient of an operational grant from the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment of the Arts.
