The Flick by Annie Baker welcomes you to a run-down movie theatre in Worcester County, MA, where Sam, Avery, and Rose work. "Their tiny battles and not-so-tiny heartbreaks play out in the empty aisles, becoming more gripping than the lackluster, second-run movies on screen. With keen insight and a finely-tuned comic eye, The Flick is a hilarious and heart-rending cry for authenticity in a fast-changing world."samuelfrench.com"
Director Brandon Grantz brings a production staged in a way that has never been seen at Henry Ford College. The play is performed in the space where the audience usually sits, which represents the theatre where The Flick physically occurs. HFC Theatre patrons will sit on the stage and watch The Flick's action unfold in the traditional seated viewing space at the Adray Auditorium, thus creating a truly immersive environment from "found space."
Playwright Annie Baker won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, 2013 OBIE for playwriting, and the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for The Flick.
