Kickshaw Theatre is pleased to kick off its inaugural season with a staged reading of THE (CURIOUS CASE OF THE) WATSON INTELLIGENCE by Madeleine George. The free reading will be held at Workantile 118 S. Main St., Ann Arbor, MI 48104 tonight, October 30th at 7PM. It will feature Lynn Lammers' directorial debut as Kickshaw Theatre's founding Artistic Director.

Watson: trusty sidekick to Sherlock Holmes; loyal engineer who built Bell's first telephone; unstoppable super-computer that became reigning Jeopardy! champ; amiable techno-dweeb who, in the present day, is just looking for love. These four constant companions become one in this brilliantly witty, time-jumping, loving tribute (and cautionary tale) dedicated to the people -- and machines -- upon which we all depend.

FINALIST! Pulitzer Prize for Drama - 2014. WINNER! John Gassner Award - 2014. THE KILROYS LIST - 2014.

"We're living through a sea change in our relationship with objects. Increasingly, our objects seem to dictate the terms of their own use, and we're growing ever more dependent on them for our survival. THE (CURIOUS CASE OF THE) WATSON INTELLIGENCE is my attempt to puzzle out the problem of dependency -- on devices, political institutions, and other people." -- Madeleine George from Playwright's Horizons Playwright Perspective

Kickshaw Theatre excites the curiosity of our audience through uncommon stories and stylistic daring. We believe that one's perception of the world is one's reality, and by expanding that perception through storytelling, we challenge our previously held assumptions. Kickshaw is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit professional theatre, and is operating under an agreement with the Actor's Equity Association, the union of professional actors and stage managers. Kickshaw Theatre, based in Ann Arbor, is producing its inaugural season consisting of 3 productions as well as an experimental laboratory. Artistic and Administrative staff include Julia Glander (Executive Director), Lynn Lammers (Artistic Director), Phillip Ashbrook (Managing Director), Heidi Bennett (Connectivity Associate), and Janice Glander (Development Advisor).
