Spinning Dot Theatre, University of Michigan, and Eastern Michigan University are proud to support local Latino playwright Jose Casas and his award winning work. JJ's Place was initially developed in conjunction with the Kennedy Center's New Vision/New Voices Program for play development for young audiences.

JJ's Place Description: Mario is a hardworking handyman in East LA who is left to raise a son, JJ, after the passing of his mother. In order to honor her memory and cope with his lack of connection with his father, JJ taps into his imagination and begins to create a series of inventions out of leftover cardboard from his dad's shop. It is through JJ's imagination and ingenuity that he is able to connect himself and his family. This bilingual play celebrates culture, imagination, perseverance, and family.
