If you could go back and change it all, would you? Would you recognize your reflection in the mirror? Could you continue on if you knew today was the happiest moment of your life, and you'd never experience it again? Who are you?

Celebrated and controversial playwright Edward Albee asks these questions and more in the award-winning exploration into the events that make up a life in Three Tall Women. Originally staged in 1991, the play continues to reward its actors; consistently racking up Tonys and other awards with each production. In the most recent revival on Broadway, both Laurie Metcalf and Glenda Jackson won Tonys, among other accolades. The play itself won the Pulitzer in 1994.

To open their fifth season, Slipstream Theatre Initiative proudly breaks new ground with this play, introducing modern classics to their lineup.

A woman is dying in bed. Her caretaker sits nearby, reading a magazine. Her attorney silently gets her affairs in order. Each believes she is unique, that her story is original and poignant. But by the second act, all that has changed and the women realize just how alike they all are. This beautiful play asks its audience to ponder the power of change, the consequences of our actions, and what it means to be alive.

Albee wrote the play to understand his mother, with whom he had a tumultuous relationship. Regarding his inspiration, Albee wrote "I harbor no ill will toward her; it is true I did not like her much, could not abider her prejudices, her loathings, her paranoias, but I did admire her pride, her sense of self. As she moved toward 90, began rapidly failing both physically and mentally, I was touched by the survivor, the figure clinging to the wreckage only partly of her own making, refusing to go under."

The cast features three powerhouse actors Maggie Alger, Jeannine Thompson, and Maggie Gilkes. Costumes are designed by Tiaja Sabrie with set and lights by Jackson Abohasira. Bailey Boudreau directs the production, with Alanna Elling serving as Stage Manager. The show runs January 4th through January 27th, with Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 7:00 pm.
