SHERLOCK HOLMES IS COMING TO DINNER, an audience participation mystery production, continues the 30th season of Dennis Wickline Productions, Inc. at Eastpointe's Broadway Onstage Live Theatre when it opens on Friday, October 22.
Running Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, with a special 2pm Sunday Matinee on Sunday, October 24 at 2pm, this engaging mystery will even cast the audience as Baker Street Irregulars or Moriarty henchmen and take them on a wild ride until the production closes on Saturday, November 20.
Select Sunday Matinees are only performed at Broadway Onstage when a prearranged group of 30 or more is scheduled to attend. Broadway Onstage Live Theatre is located at 21517 Kelly Rd. at Toepfer (8 ½ Mile Rd.) in Eastpointe. The theatre is the home of the patented TeeVeeStageTM Presentation system, which employs cameras above the audience and monitors above the stage to provide audience members with different viewing perspectives of the live stage performance.
Broadway Onstage Live Theatre is also the home of Dennis Wickline Productions, Inc., which began producing Non-Equity professional live theatre on the Eastside of Detroit in February of 1980.
SHERLOCK HOLMES IS COMING TO
DINNER tells the story of a negotiated truce between Professor Moriarty and Sherlock Holmes which is to take place over dinner in Professor Moriarty's cave like lair. One by one, Inspector
Lestrade, Mrs. Hudson, Dr. Watson, and finally Sherlock Holmes join Professor Moriarty and his housekeeper, Lady Anne Bliss. Treachery seems to begin immediately as unseen snipers, one for each side, are murdered in their unseen hiding places. Everyone is a suspect including members of the audience who are indeed cast in this mystery as Baker Street Irregulars or Moriarty's Henchmen.
At various times the audience participants are asked to vote on their observations. Death and treachery continue until a final and very surprising conclusion. The first-rate cast members are very well suited to their roles. Broadway Onstage favorite John Arden McClure takes on the role of Sherlock Holmes. Mr. McClure has been seen in a number of productions at Broadway Onstage and is the author of the upcoming premiere THE PROBLEM OF CELL 13 at the Eastpointe Theatre. S. Woitulewicz will portray Moriarty. Woitulewicz was recently seen professionally in the title role Harry in the stage version of Hitchcock's THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY. Broadway Onstage newcomer Samantha White appears as Moriarty's housekeeper Lady Anne Bliss. Ms. White is a stand-up
comedienne and appeared as Geneva Lee Brown in St. Dunstan's 2004 production of 1940'S RADIO HOUR. Don Couture will be seen as Dr. Watson. Mr. Couture was just seen at Broadway Onstage last spring in the premiere of THE SCOTTISH PLAY. Stan Newman will be seen as Inspector Lestrade and Elizabeth Rager completes the cast as Mrs. Hudson. The production is ably directed by Jane Burkey. Ms. Burkey just directed TALKING HEADSTONES, a joint production by Grosse Pointe Theatre and the Grosse Pointe Historical Society recently performed in Grosse Pointe's St. Paul Cemetery.
