The Purple Rose Theatre Company wraps up its 2011/12 Season with On Golden Pond, by
Ernest Thompson.
The production will enjoy an 11-week engagement from tonight, June 21 – Saturday, September 1, 2012. Eight low-priced previews of On Golden Pond will be performed Thursday, June 21 – Thursday, June 28, with Press Opening on Friday, June 29, 2012. Regular performances for the duration of the run are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8:00 PM with Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 3:00 PM and Sunday matinees at 2:00 PM. There will be additional 3:00 PM Thursday matinees on July 5, July 12, July 26, August 9 and August 23. (Editor’s Note: A complete performance schedule including pricing can be found on page 2). On Golden Pond is a charming love story that follows Ethel and Norman Thayer as they return to their summer home in Maine. Their respite is interrupted by the unexpected arrival of their estranged daughter, her fiancé, and his teenage son. Over the course of the summer, an unlikely friendship develops between Norman and the boy, which sparks a renewed zest for life in the Thayer family. In the twilight years of marriage, Ethel and Norman rediscover the joy and romance of every day living
The production will be directed by PRTC resident artist Michelle Mountain. The cast will feature founding director of Lansing’s BoarsHead Theater, John Peakes (Philadelphia, PA) as Norman, and Jan Radcliff (Farmington Hills, MI) as Ethel. Mr. Peakes will leave the production on August 5, and
Richard Henzel (Chicago, IL) will finish the run in the role of Norman. Other cast members include David Daoust (Lansing, MI), Rhiannon Ragland (Flint, MI), and Tom Whalen (Royal Oak, MI). Ian Bejster (Dexter, MI) and Milo Tucker-Meyer (Ann Arbor, MI) will share the role of the precocious Billy Ray Wayne.
